SA’s leading School of Specialisation in Performing and Creative Arts is looking to appoint an English Home Language teacher to start in January 2024.

Requirements:
Interested candidates should have a Bachelor of Arts (with English Studies or English Linguistics as a major subject), a PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification, SACE registration and SAPS Clearance. Knowledge of the pedagogy of teaching Shakespeare and an affinity for the arts will be an advantage.
The incumbent will teach English Home Language to Grade 10 (FET) and Grade 9 (GET). The National School of the Arts follows the CAPS syllabus.
The educator is expected to be a team player and available to attend Cluster Meetings when requested. Preference will be given to candidates with experience and expertise in teaching literature, particularly Shakespeare.
The successful candidate must be available and willing to work outside of regular school hours, when necessary, be ready to offer extra lessons, be involved in the winter school, and be an enthusiastic participant in the school’s extra-curricular activities. The candidate must possess the soft skills necessary to thrive in a specialist arts school environment. These skills include passion, patience, an intrinsic understanding of the creative child, and the ability to motivate and discipline.
