19 – 21 March 2026 | Lesedi Theatre, Joburg Theatre
The National School of the Arts presents its annual dance showcase, Dance Spectrum – The Origi-Nation, from 19 to 21 March 2026 at the Lesedi Theatre, Joburg Theatre.
This year’s title speaks to both origination and nation honouring South Africa as a country of creative originators while celebrating the courage and imagination of a new generation of dancers.
With support from the National Arts Council through the PESP6 grant, the 2026 season features newly commissioned works alongside signature choreography from the NSA Dance Department.
A Spectrum of Dance
Audiences can expect a rich and varied programme including:
- Neo-classical ballet
- Contemporary dance
- Spanish dance
- African dance
Esteemed choreographers Oscar Buthelezi, Tshepo Zasekhaya (NSA alumnus) and David Gouldie have been commissioned to create new works for this season.
They are joined by:

- Laura Cameron, with her hallmark contemporary work
- Gillian Bonegio, presenting Spanish works accompanied live on guitar by Christiaan Hattingh
The programme reflects NSA’s commitment to both technical discipline and creative innovation.
