ARTSCHOOL Nuggets – Jan 2025 Newsletter

Welcome, learners, parents, and staff to the new academic year – 2025!

Alive, Strive & Thrive are three words that rhyme with twenty five. Remember them. Alive, strive and thrive in 25! The year is alive with opportunities for learning, growth, discovery, and, most importantly, for excellence. We strive for excellence at the NSA.

In keeping with excellence, I want to acknowledge the achievements of our Matric Class of 2024. They secured a 99% pass rate, 90 distinctions – 2 of our learners – Jazira Sebele and Thuto Rakgowa received 5 distinctions each, 3 learners received 4, and 9 received three distinctions each. 85 of the 101 learners secured bachelor passes. We applaud them as we applaud the results from across the grades. Congratulations to our NSA family on your 2024 results and the progress you made last year.

To our Grade 8’s – WELCOME – congratulations for successfully securing a place at the NSA – it is the dream of many, and the reality of few. Honour the opportunity – be mindful of the achievement and strive to thrive from 2025 all the way to 2029! YOU are the esteemed matric class of 2029 who will achieve a 100% pass rate – in fact we challenge you to receive a 100% pass rate every year from Grade 8 to Grade 12. Welcome to the NSA.

It is also important to stress that we all run different races – at different paces – Nelson Mandela wisely said “The greatest glory in living lies not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall.” At the release of the matric results, our MEC for Education, Matome Chiloane said to the children who didn’t meet the pass requirements “Remember success is not final; failure is not fatal. It is the courage to continue that counts. Failure is not the end – it is an opportunity to rise stronger.”

Matric class of 2025 you will reclaim the 100% matric pass rate this year. We will make it happen.

To our new learners – across the grades – we welcome you to the NSA and look forward to witnessing your unique talents.

As you begin this new journey into the 2025 academic year remember that you all hold the power to thrive in your hands.

“A man reaps what he sows.” You will harvest what you plant. You will get out what you put in. Be curious, be brave, and be open to new experiences AND WORK consistently and diligently.

As we embark on this new academic year, I encourage each and every one of you to strive for excellence in all aspects of school life. Whether it’s academics or the arts, fellowship or service, remember that every effort counts, and every achievement is worth celebrating.

In 2025 – we will strive to banish ALL traces of bullying. BE KIND – it is your choice. BE RESPECTFUL – treat others as you would like to be treated. Let empathy and integrity guide us as we navigate the year ahead. Let us work together to create a supportive, inclusive, and vibrant learning environment that fosters growth, creativity, and innovation. The NSA is an inclusive family where everyone should feel welcome, valued, and respected, irrespective of who they are or where they come from.

Before I conclude, I would like to take a moment to acknowledge the tireless efforts of our teachers, staff, and parents who work behind the scenes to ensure that our school prospers. Thank you – we will grow together. We will sow well and reap a prosperous harvest.

As we rise to the challenges and opportunities of this new academic year, let us remember that excellence is not a destination, but a journey. Let us strive to be better versions of ourselves every day, let us thrive in 2025 and make this year one to remember!

We are NSA!
