The National School of the Arts (NSA) has officially opened online applications for learners seeking admission for the 2027 academic year.
Prospective learners currently in Grades 7 to 10 are invited to apply and audition for entry into Grades 8 to 11 in 2027. As a public School of Specialisation in Performing and Creative Arts, the NSA offers focused training in Art, Dance, Drama and Music alongside a strong academic programme.
Audition Dates
Auditions will take place on the following Saturdays at the NSA campus in Braamfontein:

Saturday, 23 May 2026
Applicants are encouraged to apply early in order to secure a place on one of the audition days.
Audition Schedule
Grades 8 & 9
- Drama, Dance and Music: Learners will begin the day with an English language proficiency test, followed by auditions from 09:00 to 12:00
- Art: 09:00 to 14:30
Grades 10 & 11
- Drama, Dance and Music: 07:30 to 09:00
- Art: 08:00 to 14:30
About the National School of the Arts
The NSA follows the Curriculum and Assessment Policy Statement (CAPS) for the National Senior Certificate, ensuring that learners receive a balanced education that supports both academic achievement and artistic development.
For more than 50 years, the school has provided a structured environment where discipline, creativity and critical thinking are developed in equal measure. Admission is by audition and applicants are expected to meet the academic requirements of the school.
